Why We Cook the Way We Do
Uncle & Aunty House is a family-run Thai cooking school in Bangkok, hosted by Sunee and Ton. When business gets fierce, our bodies often pay the price. COVID reminded us that sustainable success starts with sustainable self-care. And food — when truly nourishing and irresistibly tasty — is the easiest vitamin we can take every day.
Uncle & Aunty House was born from that realization.
We gathered time-honoured “food-as-medicine” recipes passed down through generations and reimagined them for modern lifestyles, dietary needs, and tighter schedules.
Every dish here is designed like a gentle prescription — balanced herbs, mindful cooking methods, and portions that support your gut, heart, and peace of mind.
We never sacrifice flavour. Expect bold Thai taste, colourful plating, and comforting home-style warmth.
And learning is always part of the meal. Guests leave with both full bellies and useful wellness knowledge they can apply at home.
Meet Your Hosts at Our Family-Run Thai Cooking School
Sunee and Ton welcome every guest as part of the family. Classes are small and relaxed, so everyone gets hands-on time at the stove, room to ask questions, and plenty of laughter along the way. We cook the way Thai families have cooked for generations, using fresh herbs, homemade curry pastes, and simple techniques you can easily repeat at home.
What Makes Our Classes Different
Many cooking classes teach you how to follow a recipe. At our family-run Thai cooking school, we also explain why each ingredient is there. You will learn how lemongrass, galangal, turmeric, and holy basil have been used in Thai kitchens for their flavour and wellness value, and how to balance sweet, sour, salty, and spicy in every dish.
- Small groups with a warm, family atmosphere
- Fresh market ingredients and herbs from our garden
- Healthy, food-as-medicine recipes adapted for modern diets
- Vegetarian and dietary requests welcomed
- Easy recipes to take home and cook again
Cooking with Care for People and Planet
We believe good food should be good for the earth too. We choose local ingredients, reduce waste in our kitchen, and are working towards becoming completely carbon neutral.
